BUILDING A PATHWAY FOR STUDENT WELLNESS
Around the world,
the educational institutions are emphasizing on the importance of building a
positive culture in the atmosphere, where staff and students enjoy their
experiences making them rich and memorable. Instilling in students healthy
habits, behavior and attitude at home and school is essential. As adults, when
we consistently inspire our children with positive experiences and teach them
the realities of life with no fabrication added to the situations, we shall
build in them resilience, tenacity and courage to face challenges with a
positive mind. This in fact, will enable them to be prepared for any change and
even turn some of the changes into opportunities for doing wonderful things.
The CBSE
Schools in Sharjah should redesign its approaches making it
comprehensive and accessible for learners to enrich themselves. The chances given
should be structured in a manner that can assist every child to master their
skills as per their potential.
Here are few tips for parents and teachers on
guiding students on different areas of wellness:
Academic Wellness:
·
Guide
and assist students to speak on their strengths and areas where they need help
.Provide them the confidence that they need.
·
Be
a part of students to plan their work, complete assignments, talk about their
challenges and take the necessary guidance.
·
Reinforcing
the organizational skills and following systematic procedures and methods from
early years, will become positive in course of time and turn into a regular habit.
Social and Emotional Wellness:
·
Relationships
should be the crux of all that we do.
·
Students
should be assisted in building positive relationships with peers, adults,
elders etc. Educate them on identifying positive traits of individuals and
choosing right people before building relationship.
·
Help
students to value relations. Nurture skills that enable students to balance
their emotions and develop self-regulatory behavior.
Environmental Wellness
·
Guide
students on understanding their
responsibility and accountability towards their environment and saving
resources.
·
Develop
green habits and attitude that enable students to think and save the earth
resources.
·
Teachers should integrate place based education,
system thinking and geo enquiry in the curriculum, so that students learn and
develop sustainable practices that will make them grow into positive
individuals.
Physical and Moral Wellness:
Assist students
at home and school on physical activities such as aerobic exercises, apart from
other physical exercises and games they participate. This will keep them physically
fit and agile. Mindfulness, Yoga and talking on positive values every day at
home and school will make students mentally fresh and motivate them to do their
very best.
We at Sharjah International School,
endeavor to make a pathway for student better health that keep them physically
and mentally active.
